Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva (D-Fullerton) presented the Assembly Resolution marking the 11th annual Korean-American Day. As she introduced the resolution, Assemblymember Quirk-Silva pointed out Korean American immigration began when 102 brave men, women and children immigrated to the island of Hawaii to work in the sugarcane fields in 1903. Quirk-Silva went on to say, "Their courage and determination was the beginning of the American dream by overcoming social, economic and language barriers in a new world. By recognizing the Korean American immigrant story, we are adding diversity and value to the historical tapestry of the great State of California." Here's more in this Assembly Access video.
